In this article, I will guide you to submit your blog to Google. It’s free, easy, and most needed.

Just ping the URL here to submit your blog by using your existing Google account or create a new one, no matter what it might be? Also, submitting a blog to Google is absolutely free and costs no money, the only thing you need is to help Google to find you by doing proper On-page and Off-page SEO.

Here, in this article, I am going to explain how I submitted my Blog to Google and also implemented Google Search Console (formerly known as Google Webmaster Tool).

Once you logged into the search console home page, just see on the top right side of the page to point on the Gear symbol. Click on the symbol and choose the Site Verification option. You will now be redirected to the verification page and there you can see many methods to verify your blog/website. Use any of the methods there or even it is best if you verified your site by using all options.

Because once you selected any one of the options via the radio button, immediately below that button, you will get guidance on the method you choose for verification. So, now you verified your blog with Google Webmaster. Now let Google know what is your blog about? To do this, you need to submit your blog sitemap to Google so as Google Bot can detect URLs and index your pages. One of the foremost things is to create an xml sitemap and submit it to Google search console.

What is a Sitemap?

A sitemap is an XML file that consists of all URLs in your blog or website which helps search engine crawlers to index your pages quickly. It is a must and most important file like an index file in your blog. Whenever a Search engine bot crawls your blog, it will first look for XML version of sitemap in your blog and from there it starts crawling other pages and inner pages, simply other sections in your site.

You must place the sitemap file in your site root directory that will look this if you search your file in browser address bar http://365travelplan.com/sitemap_index.xml, this will be your sitemap

Tough you can present sitemap in other versions such as PHP or HTML or HTM to users but search engine friendly and recognized file type is XML version. You may have a look at Wiki article about sitemap here

Remember, updating and Re-submitting sitemap regularly to Google Search Console will make Google happy and easy to index your website or blog.

How to Submit your Sitemap to Google Search Console?

Login to your Google Search Console using the Google account you were used previously to submit the site. Once you were landed on the profile home page, you may see your site name as seen here in this image.

Click on the site and you will be taken to the dashboard page. On the right column, you will see Sitemaps hover over the mouse and click on it, now you will be Re-directed to the sitemap tools page.

Click “ADD/TEST SITEMAP” to submit your blog sitemap file. Also, you can see what all the sitemaps are there if Google already discovered or even the ones if you submitted earlier.

Now submit your sitemap URL in the respective field and tab “TEST” if you want to check the sitemap having errors or tab “SUBMIT SITEMAP” to directly submit your sitemap. If you use Word Press for your blog, then I would recommend using “Yoast SEO Plugin” which will automatically create an XML sitemap for you. You can easily submit your sitemap there.

Once submitted you submitted your sitemap just refresh the page and you will see the index status. Also, you can see how many URLs were indexed which were submitted via the sitemap. If your blog was a new one, then probably it may take some time to index your pages I mean URLs. Above shows the index status of my blog.
