If you are a senior citizen then you may be entitled to flight discounts. The major airlines all have their own sets of rules and regulations when providing cheap flight tickets to the over 60’s. While one airline will gladly provide a flight seat discount to pensioners who are aged 60 and over then another airlines terms may be that you have to be 62 years of age to qualify. But the facts are that discounts are available so it is just a matter of doing a little research into the airlines that provide flight schedules on your chosen journey.
Some of the carriers will even provide the same discount if you need to fly with a companion. This is excellent thinking by the airlines who understand that the elderly may not be the most comfortable when it comes to taking to the air and need a companion to assist them.
The normal discounts on most airlines is 10% though they all have their own specific terms and conditions regarding senior citizens. This will range from the schedules and dates you wish to travel. You will not normally be able to get discounts on peak flying periods such as national holidays and sometimes weekends.
Other airlines may only offer discounts on domestic air travel and this maybe only be on specific routes. You may also cash in your frequent flyer miles and still get the discount on some airlines.
Some of the airlines have travel clubs for senior citizens and will provide you with the discount coupons you will need to claim your flight savings. It is advisable to check the airlines terms and conditions first before you join the club so that when the coupons are provided they are suitable for your type of air travel.
If you normally fly economy then ensure that the clubs coupons can be used in this class. Some of the airlines may only provide discount coupons for the elderly in first class air travel. Others may have a time period on your return flight.
With a little bit of research you can get some great senior citizen flight discounts. Just be sure that you are joining the right club that matches your air travel needs.
