My Favorite Destination in the World

Destination 2023

Destination 2023

Where better to spend my 23rd birthday than my favorite place in the entire world? This destination throws all my worries out the window and calms my soul. Where is this magnificent place I am speaking of?

Lechuza Beach

I gathered a couple of my favorite people and we took a day trip out to the secret Lechuza beach. Though my birthday was on a Monday we decided to celebrate on Sunday so naturally, most Malibu beaches were packed to the point of no parking. The entire SoCal coastline is beaches so it certainly helps to look beyond Zuma or Point Dume.

We parked in the nearby neighborhood and ventured down the hidden dirt path through the tunnel of trees until we could see the crashing waves. This is one of my favorite Malibu beaches not only because it is not as known but also because of the towering cliffs behind it with the local’s private stairs leading down to the beach.

For my birthday beach day I wore a Taylor Overlap Tank Top from Tobi along with black shorts with side laces from Free People a few seasons ago. To feel a little extra on the beach (if you only live once, why be bored?) I accessorized with my new favorite necklace, the Josephine Gold Layered Lariat Necklace from Tobi, Zara slides, as well as the Puss and Boots cat eye sunglasses from Pared. Of course for a dip in the ocean and to lay out in the sun I wore a bikini from Rip Curl whose unique back looked perfect underneath the open-back top from Tobi.

The Sunset

After a few hours on the beach, we made our way to a beach restaurant I had been wanting to try for ages. The Sunset did not disappoint. I had a Pink Elephant drink in the lounge beforehand and the Seafood Risotto as my main course, which I am still craving a few days after the fact. Once the waiter found out it was my birthday he ended our meal with delicious vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate. All just a couple of sandy steps away from the beach, where we watched a guy and his guitar rock out with no nearby audience as if he was on tour with ACDC while we waited for our car.

Now Boarding

My new favorite bar alert!!! After spending the afternoon and early evening in Malibu we headed back toward West Hollywood for some cocktails. We wandered into the completely underrated Now Boarding, neighboring popular hangout Laurel Hardware, which is decorated as an airport lounge. Complete with a giant flight map on the back wall, menus that look like safety instruction cards (including travel-inspired names, I went for the Mile High Mule) and dashing pilots as your bartenders.

I have wanted to get a body suit for ages, so I was stoked to find the Out of the Past Black Bodysuit from Tobi (because obviously, that edgy lace-up look is one of my favorite details EVER). Since it was a Sunday night I paired it with a pair of light blue ripped-up skinny jeans from H&M and my favorite black Guess heels (not pictured due to conversation overtaking pictures). On the face I wore my favorite Glossier Halo scope highlighter in Topaz, Glossier Cloud Paint blush in Haze, Marc Jacobs mascara, and Alpha lipstick from Bare Minerals.
